How to install recovery and root XT1096 on lollipop?

Hey fellas. I just bought XT1096 which is the verizon version of Moto X 2nd Gen, I'll like to know how do I install recovery on it and root it? I need to install some custom roms, please help me out!
Jbtw the android version is lollipop. Thank you!
