Question about S7 edge video recording FPS

Hi all,

I have been tinkering with filming on my S7 edge recently and discovered some discrepancies regarding the S7 edge video recording fps.

I shot 3 FHD (standard/30fps) video and 3 FHD (60fps) and played back on my macbook pro via Quicktime.

I noticed that for the 3 FHD (standard/30fps) videos, the frame rates displayed on Quicktime movie inspector are 23.96fps, 23.97fps and 24fps instead of 30fps.

Then i checked the 3 FHD (60fps) videos. The frame rates displayed on Quicktime movie inspector are 59.96fps, 59.97fps and 60.07fps instead of 60fps.

I compared the results to the videos shot at 24fps using my Canon 70D. 3 videos @ 24fps consistently showed frame rate of 23.98fps on Quicktime movie inspector.

So i am wondering, why does the video recording fps of S7 vary by so much? Is it software or hardware issue?

Thank you all.

Warning Recording Failed - Rooted Galaxy Note 8.0

Yesterday, I opened up the camera app and tried to record only to find it with the error, Warning: Recording Failed, then the device shuts down.

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and I have used pimp my rom to edit camera quality, but I believe my camera was working after that. I hadn't backed up original pimo my rom settings before config so nothing can be done there.

I have tried the following things:
Cleared cache and data, reboot
Cleared cache and data, wiped cache partition
Installed other camera apps (They showed similar errors)
Factory reset
Plain reboot
Edit camera settings (resolution lowered, quality lowered)

The only thing left to do would be update to the latest firmware, but my rooted tablet doesn't allow it, so I would need to do it manually.

Is there a way to fix this problem? I have looked for answers to not prevail.

Audio recording quality

Hi there, just some real life experience.
yesterday I was at a reggae concert (the skints from UK...check them out) with very high bass volume. but generally there was a good powerful sound. So I took some video with my beloved ONYX. I was together with a friend of mine that took some videos using an iPhone 6.
SO.
MY video-> completely distorted sound. I mean you cannot hear anything but a distorted sound. terrible. really terrible
My friend video: perfect. no distortion at all clean and crisp sound.

I know the iPhone is THE flagship phone so every spec is at its top. but: do you think is possible to add some sort of frequency cut by software to our 1+X?

Problems with Video recording on AOKP MM rom.

Greetings Developers,

I would really appreciate some help. By God's grace, in the T-Mobile S4 development thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...kp-mm-t3391994 , I have put together several Marshmallow Roms, namely PAC Rom and AOKP MM, that have the same problem. The camera works to take pictures, but cannot record video. It "appears" to be recording in the built in camera app, but does not actually save the recording. If I use another app, such as OpenCamera, it stops the recording as soon as I try to start. I am relatively new to development, and any help would be greatly appreciated, as well as fully recognized and credited.

Below is the logcat errors/fails when using the CM camera app, and the OpenCamer app. I just really want to get this fixed for the people who are using the roms. I hate to sell them short because I've made some sort of error.

In my inexperienced opinion, this appears to be an audio problem. I have compared the mediarecorder.cpp and similar files between CM13 and my roms, and they are identical. I was wondering if it might be vendor blobs, so I borrowed them from Beanstalk (where the camera video recorder function works), but that did not work either.

I am pretty sure that it is not the app, because using any video recording app fails to actually record the video.

Code:

Here are the fails from the logcat. I am only focusing on the errors, stops, or fails.

Using the built in Camera app:

07-12 06:50:29.124  4180  4180 E MediaRecorder: stop failed: -1007

So, the errors or fails that are the same are these:
ACDB-LOADER: Error: ACDB EC_REF_RX returned = -8
MediaRecorder: stop failed: -1007

These are both audio errors. It appears that the audio is creating an error, so the video will not save. Unless someone out there knows better (be sure to correct me, I'm still learning). So I will be looking at MediaRecorder and ACDB-LOADER and audio problems.

Once again, any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

How's the audio recording?

I'm a journalist, so the quality of audio recording is really important to me. I need to be able to hear indivuals speaking, even if they're in a relatively noisy environment. I've had an iPhone for about a year now, which records audio very well. I'm interested to jump back into Android and the OP3 seems like an all-around great phone, but I did hear that audio in video recordings is pretty bad.

Is this something that has been fixed? Is it an issue that only impacts the audio in video recordings? Also, if you have an anecdotal comparison to an iPhone or HTC, that would be amazing.

Thanks!

ALMOST Got Mugged. MIC Not Working in Phone Calls and Apps EXCEPT for Video Recording

So yeah TL;DR I got the phone back from some thieves on a motorbike after they grabbed it from me but now my Mic wont work in Phone calls and Other apps but works in Video Recording for some reason.

Anyone have a clue on what happened? Thanks

Cell Phone Video Recording Length Issues

I just purchased a Moto X Pure (32GB model with U1 PNY 128 GB microsd) and need to use it to record long videos. I tried the 4k option and I only get about 10 minutes and the video size is 3.79 GB roughly before it ends recording and states "video recording size reached, stopped recording." I then tried 1080p on the phone and I get around 32 minutes which is roughly 3.79 GB and it reports the same message.

This leads me to believe its either a software issue with the default camera app or something about the 4 GB limit on FAT files. Anyone have any ideas on how to increase video recording lengths? I'm hoping there's some type of app when the video file max is reached, it creates a new file and continues recording. I plan to record video of my backpacking trip and will be bringing ten 128 gb microSD cards with me.

Request for Information: L950 + InterOp Tools (Call Recording)

Do you have a L950 with Interop Tools installed? If you do, I would really like for you to help me out by checking three registry settings on your phone so that I can try to force Call Recording to be enabled on my L640 and other devices where call recording isn't officially supported.

With your phone and Interop Tools, please browse to the below location:
Interop Tools -> Registry Browser -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Microsoft -> Phone -> Settings ->

Can you please post the values for the below three keys on your handset?
PreferredRecordingApplication
RecordingFeatureDisabled
RecordingOff

Thanks so much for your help!

Native call recording on Note 4

Create a new line and paste the following line (AS ONE LINE) BEFORE the previous lines (NO SPACES):
<CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>RecordingAll owed</CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>

Hit the back button then press Yes to save the file.
Save the changes to “others.xml” file (or “feature.xml”) then Reboot, to apply the changes on your device.
The Changes:

Once you restart your device you can check the record button by receiving or making a call, you will have 2 options Start and Stop recording in calling screen.
