Driving Mode in Verizon Message+

Driving mode comes on automatically when my Galaxy S7 is paired with my car's Jabra Freeway Bluetooth speaker.
I have turned this off in the Message+ settings but it still comes on automatically. How do I stop this behavior permanently?

Turn off notifications while driving?

Is there any way for me to disable popup notifications when I'm in driving mode of maps? They are distracting, dangerous and not wanted when I'm actually trying to drive and navigate! :)
