I'm currently using stock MM rom and I'm not really pleased with the battery life so far. I can't last a day with a full charge and the battery drains somewhat fast. Call it placebo but I really think there's something not right. I tried doing a factory reset before but the results are still the same. Now my question is, would rooting and flashing a custom rom perhaps help alleviate the battery life situation by a bit. Maybe say some kernel has better battery performance or so? I don't want to root my phone just for the sake of testing it out. I hope someone could provide some real experiences with the performances of custom roms so far. Thanks! :)

Help improve Verizon compatibility
The OP3 does work on Verizon, however there are some "issues" that can probably be easily fixed by someone who knows what they're doing (aka not me).
So far I can confirm 1X/3G (eHRPD) works. I have to enable data roaming for data to work, but I can make/receive calls, sms, mms, and cellular data.
I've also been able to force a connection to LTE by placing the phone into "LTE Only mode". However, when I do this sms, mms and calls don't work (only data works).
For some reason the phone defaults to 3G rather than 4G even though it can use both.
3G/4G data, sms, mms and calling are working, they just aren't working together.
I have done a lot of testing on ,apns and build.prop edits but I have not made any progress.
My personal theory is that the phone is defaulting to using a US Cellular APN which then attaches to Verizon's network as a roaming partner.
I really need some help from the community to get this thing working right. Any help would be much appreciated.

How to improve poor notifications
I'm on the latest Marshmallow (v6.0.1) for the Xperia Z3 (D6603) and the only thing I don't like about it are the LED notifications. When I get an email, text etc the tiny little led flashes limply about once every 3 seconds so you have to stare at it for a while to see if you have a message. If it flashed on and off once or twice per second you could glance at it and find out; as it is you might as well just press the power button and look (and wake it up).
Additionally, pressing the power button and discovering there's a notification seems to stop the LED flashing (until the next message turns up) even though you've not read the message. IE the notification might just say "1 email" but not display who sent it, the subject etc, but as far as the notification system is concerned you've just waved the LED flashing away.
I've gone through the settings a few times and looked at 1) notifications generally, 2) permissions per app, 3) the apps themselves but there don't seem to be any obvious settings to govern this behaviour. I'm not desperate to root my phone or buy apps which drain the battery etc; i'm just wondering if there's some option somewhere to make the notifications a little more persistent and obvious.

When will hangouts improve?!?
I love my s7e to bits but one thing which I miss dearly after parting with my iPhone is the ability to have good quality video calls. Seems it can't be done with android.
Tried every option - hangouts is no worse or better than the rest. Whether you can see each other and hear a complete sentence is hit and miss. Facetime is decades ahead - why? It's outrageous that no effort seems to be put into upping the game. Thinking of getting a cheap iPhone just for facetime. Daft but the only way.
Werent there talks about improving the quality of hangouts?
