[Question] Microsoft Remote Desktop on Android 4.4.4

I'm thinking about resurrecting my wifi tablet as a remote desktop client. I want the OS to be snappy and have good battery life, so I'm thinking on flashing 4.4.4 unless I'm wrong.

My main question is if the latest Microsoft Remote Desktop would run on Android 4.4.4. I'd rather not go through the entire flashing process if it won't work in the end anyway.

The Play Store page isn't very specific as it just says requirements vary on each device. It obviously runs fine on the latest Android 6 on my Nexus 6P, but I want a larger screen.

FDE and desktop management software

Hi,

Hopefully this thread meets the criterion of being a discussion about physical device security.

Having just mislaid a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact/5.0.2, I've decided to use the opportunity to invest in a phone that meets my security requirements.

Specifically, I need a phone that offers FDE that is compatible with the default desktop management software (ie. not adb) using the official, unrooted ROM.

So, for example, AFAIK none of the Sony phones nor any of the Samsung phones meet this criterion, because as soon as FDE is enabled, you can no longer interact with the phone using the manufacturer's desktop management software for the purposes of:

• backing up text messages and call logs
• managing media on the internal storage
• making and restoring device backups

There are other criteria that I'll be applying, but it seems best to start with this one.

I'm also keen to understand why this is such an apparent issue (IME) for Android-based phones. Is it a fundamental architecture issue?

Desktop User Agent on Chrome

Hello everybody

I have just upgraded from, I believe, Lollipop to Nougat on my Nexus 6. On the old OS I had Chrome use Desktop mode on default. I distinctly remember that I did it with chrome-command-line in /data/local.

I tried that again, I copied the file, removed the .txt and set permissions to 755. I tried rebooting and killing chrome. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it with Titanium Backup. Nothing. about://version still shows android.

Does anybody know how I can beat this damn browser into submission?

Regards,

Marco

Problem exporting Firefox bookmarks on desktop to Firefox on mobile device

Hi, I'd like to use my Firefox bookmarks from my desktop on my Nexus 7. I can export them to a bookmarks.html file and adb push that file into the /sdcard/Download folder on my Nexus 7. But there Firefox can't read this file, it just shows me a blank page. No error message.
My Rom is a Cyanogenmod 13 snapshot from 2016-04-18 and the Nexus 7 is the "deb" version with LTE. And it is rooted.
Do I have to modify the file permissions, and how canI do that? The CM filemanager shows no option to do that, and the "chmod" command won't work.
And I wand avoid creating another online account (Firefox Sync) only for doing that.

Greetings,
Heinz
