Screen Break Issues - Question

I have thee co-workers that have the S7 Edge. Of the three, two have gotten broken screens, on the edge, just from carrying them in their pocket. In each case the VZW reps have advised them that they "see it all the time" and that these phones are terrible about this due to the "flexing" in your pocket. I have personally dropped mine on the floor twice now, each time with no breaks.

Has anyone else seen this? Whats your experience?

How would the radio break when you root?

I know there are ways around breaking the radio, but I'm just really curious. How would rooting break the radio? Does it have something to do with the weird encryption that comes on some Marshmallow devices now? Thanks.
