HTC M7 stuck on 4.4.2 requesting step by step help towards 5.x

For quite some time I've had the HTC m7 and along the way I fooled around with it installing a custom rom.
(android revolution HD 32.0? too long ago, can't remember clearly).
Since I did not bother to keep the custom ROM up to date, I decide that the phone should be restored to it's original Stock ROM (t-mobile) and make use of OTA update.
With all the guides out there as well as the videos on Youtube I seemed to got quite far up to the point that version 4.4.2 was successfully installed by OTA.

The current situation is that the phone prompts for an OTA update (6.14.111.2) Android 4.4.3.
After downloading I try to install this update, but the update fails. I typed the error message from a screenshot below it just flashes for 2 seconds before reboot it has the dead android with the red error triangle:

Error message during update:

The fastboot show the following message on top:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***

What I would like to achieve is have this phone running on latest version of android, with an as clean as possible install.
Having the Google Play Edition would be a plus, but not mandatory.

I am looking for a step by step solution on how to achieve this considering the current state of the phone.

Provider is t-mobile, residence Netherlands, but prefer the English language on hardware devices.

Hopefully someone is willing and able to help and teach me a thing or two along the way. :highfive:

Cheers,
Sean Aero
