Help! Can't get past the Language-selection on my Fire TV Stick after factory-reset

Hi,

I purchased a fire TV stick two months back which I updated to 5.2.1.0. Post that I successfully rooted using the 'KingoRoot' solution. I also managed to attach a self-made OTG cable with power option as per the instructions on this forum. This allowed me to connect wireless keyboards and mouse and wireless gamepads too. I was using it for about a month when I bought a new game controller which wasn't getting detected in X-input mode(Dinput mode worked) for some reason on the stick. It was working fine with other android phones I had and my Mac too. Suspecting a problem with the keylayouts, I started playing with the keylayouts.. Also experimented with a some keypad mapping software which had the option to turn bluetooth on and off. The bluetooth switch off option worked fine but it won't switch on.

That's when I finally decided to perform a factory reset on my device and my problems started. I used the factory reset option on the settings menu and the device booted me to the language selection screen. I am now able to scroll up and down on the language options but unable to select an option. I also tried a factory reset this time using the Back + Right buttons on the remote but this too ended up in the same state.

Current challenges :
1. Since the Fire TV Stick has been factory reset, it doesn't connect to the wifi network. So, no way to connect adb tools via network.
2. ADB via USB is also not working now(it worked earlier), as I need to be able to run a command via adb on the network to enable it and I got no access to ADB.

I also tried the selection through my TV's CEC remote, but there too I am only able to scroll through the language options.
The only respite is that the stick is not stuck at the first boot logo which happens with most folks when their devices are bricked.

Can someone give me some pointers to troubleshoot the issue?

Cheers,
