Galaxy S5 non rooted running Marshmallow question

Ok my phone isnt rooted yet but i setup an sd card for the future for when its rooted... for link2sd I made two partitions on the phone, both are set as primary one is a FAT32 partition which my unrooted phone sees just fine and all the file space is accounted for. However the EXT2 partition I made for future use with link2sd shows up on my phone as corrupted, is there really something wrong with it or is it just that an unrooted phone doesnt read EXT2 so its listed as corrupted but when I finally do root the phone that partition will show properly? If not how do I fix that partition to not be corrupted?
