I upgraded my sm-n915t T-Mobile Note Edge to Marshmallow 6.0.1 (N915TUVU2DPE3) a few days ago and a few things don't work on the newer firmware. I would like to go back to the Kit-Kat firmware 4.4.4 (N915TUVU1ANK3), but everything I have tried doesn't work to go back to 4.4.4.
First I tried wiping everything except the external sd card through TWRP and restroing a 4.4.4 nandroid backup, but this causes a bootloop.
Then I tried downloading N915TUVU1ANK3, going into download mode and flashing through odin but this always fails, giving the error
<ID:0/003> FAIL! (Auth)
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I read about flashing the bootloader first so I put the aboot.mbn, MPM-HLOS.bin, rpm.mbn, sbl1.mbn, sdi.mbn, and tz.mbn files from the 4.4.4 firmware in a .tar file and tried to flash it using odin 3.09. This also failed.
Did the 6.0.1 firmware upgrade or lock the bootloader so I can't return to 4.4.4? And if it did, is there a way to downgrade the bootloader?
Or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you for your help!
